Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) retains many of the core principles of the currency system established in Path of Exile 1 (PoE 1). Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has confirmed that the fundamental economy and currency mechanics will remain intact, meaning that veteran players will find a familiar system while also encountering new enhancements. Below, we explore the key similarities between PoE 1 and PoE 2’s currency items. 1. Core Currency Items Remain Unchanged

Many of the primary currency items from PoE 1 will carry over into PoE 2, ensuring consistency in how players modify and enhance their gear. These core items include:

  • Chaos Orbs – Rerolling the affixes on rare items.
  • Exalted Orbs – Adding a new affix to rare items.
  • Divine Orbs – Modifying numerical values on item affixes.
  • Orbs of Alchemy – Upgrading normal (white) items to rare (yellow).
  • Orbs of Alteration – Rerolling affixes on magic (blue) items.
  • Regal Orbs – Upgrading a magic item to a rare item.
  • Chromatic Orbs – Changing socket colors.
  • Jeweller’s Orbs – Rerolling the number of sockets on an item.
  • Orbs of Fusing – Adjusting links between sockets (even though PoE 2 has removed linked sockets, these may have a new function).
  • Mirror of Kalandra – Duplicating an item, likely still one of the rarest currencies.

These items will retain their core functionalities, ensuring that crafting remains familiar and accessible to experienced PoE players.

2. Barter-Based Economy Stays the Same

One of PoE’s unique aspects compared to other ARPGs is its barter-based economy, which replaces traditional gold with tradeable currency items. This system will remain unchanged in poe 2 currency sale. Players will continue to:

  • Use currency items both for crafting and trading.
  • Have no centralized gold system, meaning everything in trade is valued based on demand.
  • Engage in a player-driven economy, where high-value currency items (such as Exalted Orbs or Divine Orbs) function as a de facto form of "money."

This ensures that PoE 2 maintains its complex economic depth, allowing for meaningful trading and strategic crafting.

3. Crafting Systems Built Around Currency Items

PoE 2’s crafting system will still revolve around currency-based modifications. This means that:

  • Randomized crafting through orbs like Chaos and Exalted will remain.
  • Deterministic crafting via fossils, essences, or league mechanics will likely return.
  • Players will still have multiple layers of crafting, from casual alterations to deep endgame crafting strategies.

While PoE 2 might introduce more deterministic crafting mechanics, the fundamental "crafting through currency" system will stay the same.

4. League Mechanics Will Continue to Introduce Temporary Crafting Currency

Just like in PoE 1, each new league in buy poe 2 currency will likely introduce temporary crafting currency, often specific to that league’s mechanics. Examples from past leagues include:

  • Fossils & Resonators (Delve League) – Allowed controlled crafting outcomes.
  • Influenced Currency (Conquerors of the Atlas) – Introduced modifiers tied to bosses like the Shaper and Elder.
  • Harbinger Currency (Harbinger League) – Provided special shards for currency synthesis.

This pattern of temporary league-exclusive currency, which sometimes becomes part of the core game, will continue in PoE 2.

5. High-Value Currency Will Still Define the Economy

In PoE 1, certain currency items act as high-value trade items, such as:

  • Divine Orbs (Post-3.19) – The primary measure of wealth.
  • Exalted Orbs (Pre-3.19) – Once the main trading currency.
  • Mirror of Kalandra – The rarest and most valuable currency item.

These high-value items will continue to shape the trade economy in PoE 2, acting as benchmarks for pricing high-end items.

6. Vendor Recipes and Currency Exchanges Remain

PoE 2 will still feature vendor recipes that allow players to exchange items for currency. This system:

  • Encourages smart inventory management.
  • Allows players to convert lower-tier currency into higher-tier currency.
  • Provides a baseline way to farm valuable crafting materials.

For example, players will likely still be able to trade identified rare items for Chaos Orbs or specific item sets for Divine Orbs, similar to PoE 1’s vendor mechanics.

7. Currency-Driven Endgame Crafting Stays Intact

In PoE 1, high-level crafting involves:

  • Meta-crafting mods (which allow more controlled item creation).
  • Multi-step crafting using multiple currency types.
  • Influence crafting that applies special boss-based modifiers.

PoE 2 will likely refine this system but maintain its core depth, ensuring that currency items remain the foundation of item customization.

The Currency System is Evolving, Not Being Replaced

While poe 2 currency will introduce new currency items and crafting mechanics, it is not abandoning the core currency system of PoE 1.
